I went out for Phenology on February 22, 2012. The water level had really dropped in my site over the month, it was about 10 cm at the beginning and its down to 9 or less. It was slightly raining that day and cloudy. The grass in my site is starting to turn green. There are no new leaves on the trees though. There is still a lot of litter in the creek and also there was a squirrel running through my site up to a tree. This is a picture i took of the water and bank in my site.
I really appreciate that you include photos, Rachel. Why has your water level dropped lately? Where is the litter in the creek coming from? Why was there a lot more of it during Jan. and Feb. than we had seen in the fall? You have mentioned that there are no leaves on your trees yet, but are you seeing any signs of bud formation?

ReplyDeleteWas good... but not very interesting. At the end you got off topic with the squirrel, what does it have to do with the water? Or the litter? Or no leaves on the tree?
